Founded in 2003 by parents and concerned citizens to mitigate the effects of shrinking state budgets and resources, the SVEA supports the students and programs of not only Spencer Valley School, but of the surrounding area as a whole. SVEA is a non-profit, 501 C(3) corporation, contributions to which are fully tax-deductible. (Tax ID #13-4228526).
SVEA funds projects such as:
- Underwriting Spencer Valley's annual Shakespeare production
- Purchase of theater equipment for Julian High and Spencer Valley School theater programs
- After-school tutoring at Spencer Valley
- After-school drama program
- Art/literacy coaching to assist teachers in improving literacy
- In-school enrichment programs
- Library books
- Field trips to enrich the social studies, science and the arts curricula
- Garden enhancement
- Musical instruments for the primary classroom
- Art materials
- Mural restoration
- Student needs
- $3000 in yearly scholarships to graduating seniors at Julian Union High School
Funds are received from private donations and proceeds from Spencer Valley's annual Shakespeare dinner theater and silent auction in late March. Your donation to SVEA can help our entire community continue to provide a quality educational experience for all our students.
