Meet Our Superintendent/Principal: Kelly Baas

Professional Background My journey in education began as a third-grade teacher in Illinois. Over the years, I have had the privilege of teaching at almost every level, including kindergarten, first, second, and third grades, as well as middle school. Transitioning into school leadership, I served as an assistant principal, principal, curriculum director, and assistant superintendent throughout Illinois. In 2019, my family and I relocated to California, where I served as the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services at Ramona Unified School District before finding my true home here at Spencer Valley.

My Philosophy & Connection to Spencer Valley I feel incredibly blessed to be part of such a unique, exciting, and vibrant school community. Collaborating daily with our dedicated staff, wonderful families, and amazing students is an absolute joy, and I look forward to each new school year as a fresh opportunity to inspire a love of learning.

Outside the Classroom My husband and I reside in Ramona along with our three cats (Bolillo, Cosmo & Cricket)—and on the weekends, I also play host to Spencer Valley's eight beloved school pet rats! We have two grown children: one who lives and works in Tokyo, Japan, and another who lives and works in Long Island, New York.
