Shakespeare
Since 1998 staff, parents, and students have participated in an annual Shakespeare production. The production is a three month process producing dazzling results! Each year our students have delighted the community with two evening performances plus the annual evening dinner theatre, a fundraising event sponsored by the Spencer Valley Educational Association.
Here's how they do it:
September
- Students are given the script to begin to read through
- Timeline is set up for the entire play
- Requests for volunteers
- Theater classes start
October
- Auditions
- Parts are given
November/December
- Read through of scripts during afterschool time
- Beginning of memorization
- Set building and costume design and materials purchase
- Lighting and music plans drawn up
January/February
- Individual and scene coaching
- Rehearsal of scenes and blocking
MARCH
- Finishing set and costumes
- Tech rehearsal
- Dress rehearsal
- Show and dinner theatre
