Spencer Valley School Photo

Small School District

Spencer Valley School seamlessly combines the traditional values and personalized environment of a 19th-century schoolhouse with modern technology and an understanding of human potential to create a forward-thinking model for the 21st century. Educating students since 1876, our small PreK-8 school district features multi-grade classrooms. Nestled in Wynola Valley at the base of Volcan Mountain in northeast San Diego County, near the historic town of Julian, Spencer Valley Elementary serves a close-knit community. The 9.9 square-mile district includes one school with 16 full- and part-time staff members, serving a student population that fluctuates between 30 and 50 Transitional Kindergarten through 8th-grade students each year. In the fall of 2023, we opened a new community care licensed preschool facility, serving full- and part-time preschool students.
